Most of the time they road...

Some of the time they walked...

..but they made it all the same.

….I initially wrote off the idea as ludicrous; biking 750 miles through the East African nation of Tanzania to raise funds for poor Tanzanian youth to get an education?  While the aim was noble, did we really need to go to such extremes?  However, after doing some deep soul-searching, I reached the revelation, “Why not?”  After we set the hearts of our parents and hosts at Hanga Abbey at ease with some sweet-talking and white-lies, we strapped our packs on our bikes and took off on what would be an unforgettable two weeks on the road….

 

Now that the tour is over, we’d like to share it with you!  In the link bar to the right you will find a section called “The Tour”.  In this section we have broken the ride into it’s different stages.  By clicking on a stage you will find short reports along with pictures from life on the road.  We hope that you enjoy reading these stories and looking at the pictures as much as we enjoyed taking part in them.

 

While the riding portion is complete, the real reason for our tour is just beginning in the classrooms of Hanga.  With your support, we are now selecting the first recipients of the “Phoenix Rising” Endowment.  We will be posting these recipients on our website soon, so check back!!  We have made large stride towards our goal of $25,000, but are still a ways away from reaching it.  If you would still like to donate please follow the how to “How To Help” link to the right.
